The Light After Darkness

It is a mistake for anyone to think he has lived too long in his old, unsatisfactory ways to make the great change. If you switch on the light in a dark room, it makes no difference how long it was dark because the light will still shine. Be teachable. That is the whole secret.

Borrowed from Brian Johnson’s Optimizer emails, where HE borrowed it from The Power of Your Supermind

Wow. I love that SO much. Instead of thinking of the work it will take to heal, to change, to grow – just no that while those things are true – all you have to do is turn on light to start the process, no matter how long it has been. Amazing.

Beautiful Souls

I met these beautiful people at an amazing event thrown by Kleen City DC yesterday morning. They are on a mission to inspire clean living by throwing morning parties – starting your day with sunrise yoga, coffee, and a dance party. I was honored to be able to bring my kale donuts to share with the attendees. Along the way I met these 2 beautiful souls when one of them (Jewel, in the middle) was tearing up and Paula (on the right – I’m on the left! :) ) asked her if she was ok, and she said yes:

“I’m just so present to the fact of how cool this is, how people want to heal and be healed, how much love is here.”

WHOA. How powerful, to stop and think like that.

Can’t wait to join Kleen again!!

How can I share that love with you? How are you healing? And how can I help?

Joy of sharing goodies!!

Ok this one’s cheating, but I’m just so excited I had to share! And really, wouldn’t the world be happier if we all got the chance to share what we’re proud of more often?

On that note, before I go any further – what are you proud of today? I’d love to know!

Today I’m super proud of the fact that I *finally* opened my etsy shop yesterday. It has lots of work to do, including especially adding more items, but it’s OPEN, with my famous kale donuts for sale, and I’ve already had my first sale! How cool is that. :) I would love if you would check it out and let me know what you think!

Joy of Art

Have you heard of The Piano Guys? I had the joy of seeing them live at Wolf Trap last week, and they were incredible. Incredibly talented musicians, surprisingly funny, and so genuine and heartfelt with the emotions that came through through their words and their music. They played their videos on a screen on the stage accompanied with their live music, and one of them begins with the following quote:

Joy of Art

How beautiful is that quote? As I am currently working daily on discipline and routine in my art, helping people live joyous lives through food and health, this hit me like a thunderbolt. What is your art? What inspires you to learn its secrets?

Watch the beautiful video here:

I’m back!! While John Stewart says goodbye…

John Stewart leaving The Daily Show is something I have yet to accept as reality. The words of Stephen Colbert saying thank you, however, are some of the most beautiful and genuine words I have ever heard between friends and colleagues. What an inspiration to be dedicated and true to your work and your art. Thank you John, AND Stephen.

At 3:55: “We owe you, because we learned from you. We learned from you, by example, how to do a show with intention, how to work with clarity, how to treat people with respect, you are infuriatingly good at your job, and all of us who are lucky enough to work with you … for 16 years are better at our jobs because we got to watch you do yours, and we are better people, for having known you. You are a great artist and a good man … and on behalf of so many people whose lives you changed over the past 16 years – thank you.”
